Noida court bans protesters within 100m of Jaypee office

Homebuyers who have spent more than a decade awaiting possession of Jaypee Infratech (JIL) flats now face strict limits on their agitation: a local civil court has barred demonstrations within 100 metres of the developer's Sector 128 office, siding—at least temporarily—with JIL's new owner, the Suraksha Group.

Civil judge (junior division) Mayank Tripathi issued the interim order on Friday after Suraksha, which took charge of the bankrupt builder last May, alleged that recent protests "blocked entry, used defamatory slogans and intimidated staff". The company sought a 500-metre no-demonstration zone, but the court trimmed the buffer to 100 metres, ruling JIL could not prove ownership or control of a larger area. The decision was passed ex parte because representatives of the JIL Real Estate Allottees Welfare Society (JREAWS) and other buyers "did not appear or file objections", the order notes.
