47 Rain-Related Deaths Reported in UP and Bihar

Heavy rainfall wreaked havoc in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, leaving at least 47 dead in rain-related incidents, mostly due to lightning and hailstorm, prompting chief ministers of the neighboring states to announce ₹4 lakh ex gratia each to the families of the deceased.
LUCKNOW/PATNA:
In Uttar Pradesh, officials said, at least 22 people were killed in lightning across the state. Three people each were killed in Fatehpur and Azamgarh districts, two each in Firozabad, Kanpur Dehat and Sitapur, while one each died in Ghazipur, Gonda, Amethi, Sant Kabir Nagar and Siddharth Nagar, Ballia, Kannauj, Barabanki, Jaunpur and Unnao districts due to lightning, according to the relief commissioner's office.
