Newlywed woman dies by suicide, family alleges dowry harassment

KOCHI: The skeletal remains of two newborns, allegedly murdered and buried by their parents, were exhumed from the compounds of their homes in Thrissur district of Kerala, police said on Monday.

The exhumation came a day after the Puthukkad police arrested Bhavin (25) and Aneesha (22), who were in a relationship for several years, on murder charges after it came to light that at least one of the newborn babies was killed and buried in the backyards of their homes.

Police said the case came to light after Bhavin, a plumber by profession, walked into the Puthukkad police station in an inebriated condition and carrying a bag that contained the skeletal remains of two babies, born separately in a four-year-period. Police suspected that while the first newborn died during childbirth, the second baby was killed by the mother after birth.
