315 People Have Been Arrested In 3 Districts So Far, According To The Report
KOLKATA: While Murshidabad district remained in focus, the West Bengal government told Calcutta high court on Thursday that communal violence took place in South 24 Parganas and Hooghly districts as well during protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Act.
Measures were taken to restore order during "communal violence in Samserganj, Suti, Dhuliyan under Jangipur police district, Amtala under Diamond Harbour police district and Champdani under Chandannagar police commissionerate following protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025," says a summary report prepared by additional director general of police (law and order) Jawed Shamim. HT saw a copy.
It said 315 people were arrested in the three districts till Thursday.
