BAIL PLEA OF PRIME ACCUSED IN ₹2K-CR CRYPTO FRAUD CASE REJECTED

A Delhi court has dismissed a bail plea moved by the prime accused in a ₹2,000 crore cryptocurrency fraud case, observing that the theft caused massive financial loss to lakhs of investors and that the accused facilitated foreign-based cyber criminals in opening and selling crypto accounts.

The order, passed by additional sessions judge Saurabh Partap Singh Laler of the Patiala House Court on Wednesday, said, “The cyber fraud involves an unprecedented huge amount of approximately 2,000 crores ($234 million), causing massive financial loss to the complainant company and lakhs of investors.”
