Parties seek minimal phases of Bihar polls

Major political parties in Bihar, including the ruling BJP-JD(U) coalition and the Opposition INDIA bloc, on Saturday urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to hold the forthcoming assembly polls in Bihar in a maximum of two phases during their interaction with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar in Patna.

“We have urged the EC to conduct the elections in one or two phases. The election process need not be staggered...,” said state BJP president Dilip Jaiswal. He added that conduct of one or two phase elections would also put less burden of expenses on voters.
