West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday urged the state's governor to postpone his planned visit to riot-hit Murshidabad district and continued to attack the Union home ministry, saying the state administration was not being able to communicate with the people living in villages along the international border due to an extension of the jurisdiction of the Border Security Force (BSF).

KOLKATA:

"I would appeal to the Governor to wait for a few days more before visiting Murshidabad," she said while speaking to the media at the state secretariat. Earlier on Thursday, Governor C.V. Ananda Bose had said he would visit Murshidabad to take stock of the situation on the ground and later reiterated that he would go ahead with his visit on being questioned about the CM's appeal.

Communal riots broke out in West Bengal's Murshidabad district last week during protests against the newly-enforced Waqf (Amendment) Act. Three persons were killed in the violence.
