NEW DELHI: Political leaders from across the country on Tuesday strongly condemned the terror attack on tourists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam and called for urgent action to ensure such incidents do not recur.

Condemning the terror attack on tourists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that those behind the heinous act will be brought to justice. In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, "They (terrorists) will not be spared! Their evil agenda will never succeed. Our resolve to fight terrorism is unshakable and it will get even stronger."

Modi also conveyed his condolences to those who lost their loved ones in the attack. "I pray that the injured recover at the earliest. All possible assistance is being provided to those affected," he said.

Shah vows to hunt down perpetrators Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Srinagar to review the security situation in Kashmir following a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam in which 26 people were killed, officials said.

Hours after the attack on tourists, Shah rushed to Srinagar and drove straight to the Raj Bhavan from the airport.

Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police Nalin Prabhat briefed the home minister upon his arrival. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and Director of Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka were present at the time of the briefing.

Shah headed for J&K soon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to him and asked him to visit the Union Territory, they said.

The home minister in a post on X said he had briefed the Prime Minister about the incident and held a meeting with the officials concerned via video conferencing.
