NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Monday recorded an undertaking from Mahindra Electric Automobile Ltd, agreeing not to use the "6E" trademark for its upcoming electric car model, the BE 6, during the pendency of a trademark infringement lawsuit filed by InterGlobe Aviation Ltd, the operator of India's largest airline IndiGo.

HC accepts Mahindra undertaking on '6E' trademark

Mahindra committed to rebranding the model from BE 6E to BE 6 but signaled its intent to contest IndiGo's claims in court. In turn, IndiGo informed the court it would not pursue an interim injunction against the automaker.

After accepting the undertaking, the court disposed of IndiGo's plea for interim relief, issued summons to Mahindra, and scheduled the matter for April 2025.

The lawsuit, filed on 4 December, asserts that IndiGo's "6E" trademark is not merely a call sign but a cornerstone of its branding. Representing passenger-focused services such as 6E Prime, 6E Flex, and premium add-ons like lounge access and extra baggage allowances, the airline argues that "6E" is integral to its identity and protected under trademark law. IndiGo has sought an injunction to prevent Mahindra from using the designation.

Where is everyone?

We've been searching for decades, but haven't found so much as a microbe in space yet. Could it be that we're early; that life simply has not evolved yet in the neighbourhood? Are we doing it all wrong? Is there a bustling universe of sentient beings out there, waiting for us to catch on? Humans are now beginning to build technology that could make the difference in our quest for alien life. We have a growing understanding of what to look for. We're getting better at sending probes to nearby planets, which could tell us more about where and how to search. What might we find? Why does it matter? Take a look

MF Husain: Man and myth, art and artist

M F Husain is undoubtedly India's best known and perhaps most highly regarded modern artist. As an editorial in this newspaper put it last week, he is \"arguably the most inventive artist of Indian modernism\". This is why it's not just sad but upsetting that an MF Husain museum will open next month in Doha and not in the country of his birth.
