Talks on India-US trade agreement gain ground

US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer has "welcomed" India's "constructive engagement" in ongoing trade talks following Monday's meeting between Vice President JD Vance and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, emphasising the strategic nature of bilateral engagements that also involve military and technology partnership.
NEW DELHI:
"I am pleased to confirm that USTR and India's ministry of commerce and industry have finalised the terms of reference to lay down a roadmap for the negotiations on reciprocal trade," Greer said in a statement.
His remarks came a day before Indian negotiating teams, led by chief negotiator and commerce secretary-designate Rajesh Agrawal, were due to arrive in America to advance the discussions. Approximately 20 terms of reference (ToRs) have been established for a "mutually beneficial" bilateral trade agreement (BTA), covering issues related to tariff and non-tariff barriers in goods and services.
