Locals Urge MCG to Take Action on Waste Burning by Vendors

A Gurugram-based environmental advocacy group, Citizens for Clean Air, has filed a complaint with the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) commissioner Ashok Garg against the open burning of waste by street vendors.

GURUGRAM: The group demanded immediate and effective measures to address the issue.

The complaint highlights incidents in areas such as Tau Devi Lal Biodiversity Park, Nirvana Central Road, and other hotspots where plastics, styrofoam, and multi-layered pouches are being burnt. Ashok Garg assured action, stating, "We will form dedicated teams to carry out night patrol... Those found violating norms through open burning will face strict action. Our overarching aim is to eliminate these practices."
