Endorsing NEP, Delhi sets uniform 6+ rule for Class 1

Schools in Delhi must admit children to Class 1 only at age six or above from the 2026-27 academic session, according to a directive issued by the city’s education authority, ending years of varying age requirements across institutions.
The Directorate of Education (DoE) announced the change in a circular dated Oct 24, restructuring early childhood education to align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
