3 arrested for murdering K’taka journalist

The police on Saturday said the death ofa journalist, earlier believed to bea road accident, was a premeditated murder connected toa blackmail attempt over an illegal rice supply racket.
Three suspects have been arrested in the case, they added.
Basavaraj Kanakond, 47, worked with a local Kannada news outlet. He died on October 8, after his scooter was hit by an unidentified vehicle near Madarkhandi Cross in Jamakhandi taluk. The ase, initially recorded as an accident, took a turn when his wife's complaint prompted a detailed probe that revealed evidence of foul play.
