MNREGA workers can apply for jobs online

In a bid to simplify the job application process for MNREGA workers, Barmer district administration has launched a mobile application through which the labourers can apply for employment online. The Jaipur police has traced the SIM card that was used in a phone to conduct an interview of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in Jaipur Central Jail, which was aired on a private news channel on March, 2023, in Dausa, said officials.

BARMER: In a bid to simplify the job application process for MNREGA workers, Barmer district administration has launched a mobile application through which the labourers can apply for employment online.

The initiative, spearheaded by district collector IAS Tina Dabi and chief executive officer IAS Siddharth Palanichamy, aims to reduce the need for the workers to physically visit gram panchayats and enhance the efficiency of the employment request process.

The launch event of the app, "MY NREGA APP" was attended via video conference by the MGNREGA commissioner Pushpa Satyani and additional commissioner Kishore Meena. During the launch, Satyani said that soon other districts in the state will adopt this model. In the first phase, the app will be tested in five gram panchayats.

"The app will help in maintaining transparency, as employment demand applications can now be tracked from village-level officers to district authorities. Earlier, there were complaints that village-level officers were not maintaining transparency. This initiative aims to ensure fair allocation of work," Satyani said.
