Medical reports confirm rape of 16-yr-old athlete

DEHRADUN: An initial medical examination has confirmed that the 16-year-old athlete was raped, Haridwar police said on Tuesday, a day after a 37-year-old hockey coach was arrested for the crime.
Station house officer of SIDCUL police station Manohar Bhandari said, "An initial medical examination has confirmed that the 16-year-old athlete was raped. We also collected the evidence from the hotel room where the crime took place (on Sunday) and sent it to the FSL laboratory for results. Their report may take some time."
On Sunday evening, the 16-year-old girl told police that the hockey coach allegedly raped her at the preparatory camp of the National Games at Roshanabad, 12 km from Haridwar city.
The accused, who is a resident of Champawat, was arrested from Roshanabad.
