ITANAGAR: The district and sessions court in Arunachal Pradesh's Yupia has sentenced a 44-year-old man to life imprisonment for raping a woman and robbing her of ₹35,000 in 2016, observing that the severity of the crime and the past criminal record of the convict left no room for leniency.
Sessions judge Hirendra Kashyap on Thursday awarded a life sentence to Aftab Sheikh, a resident of Ambiri Village in Assam's Sonitpur district, along with a fine of ₹20,000.
