Political row heats up over Hazratbal incident; 50 held

At least 50 people have been detained in connection with the alleged vandalisation of the Ashoka emblem at the Hazratbal shrine in Kashmir, even as a political row intensified on Sunday.
National Conference chief and former Jammu & Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah criticised the Waqf Board, saying the plaque with the Ashoka emblem should have never been installed at the shrine.
“Whatever happened at Haz~ratbal was wrong. They should not have installed that board (plaque). This dargah or any shrine here has been constructed with the money of people not out of favour by anybody,” he said.
