Kerala governor Rajendra Arlekar has moved the Supreme Court with a request to exclude the Kerala chief minister from the process to pick vice-chancellors (VC) for Kerala Digital University and APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, citing University Grants Commission (UGC) rules.
The move, opposed by the State government, is likely to exacerbate the friction between the Raj Bhavan and the State government on the longstanding issue of the appointment of university VCs.
