3-yr jail for man caught with banned tablets

MOHALI: A local court has sentenced a 32-year-old man to three years of rigorous imprisonment for possession of intoxicating tablets. Raman Kumar, of Bijoli village, Yamuna Nagar, was arrested by the Lalru police in 2017. The special NDPS court of Harsimranjit Singh also imposed a fine of ₹40,000 on Kumar.

According to case files, on June 13, 2017, Lalru police, following a tip-off about Kumar, laid a check post at a T-point near Dehar village on Ambala-Chandigarh Road.

The accused, who was travelling on a scooter bearing registration number HR-99-ZR-8848T, was signalled by the cops to stop.
