{ 'DISPARAGING REPUTATION OF HC’ } Former CPI(M) MLA to face contempt of court charges: HC

The Kerala high court said on Monday that it will initiate criminal contempt of court charges against Kerala University syndicate member and former CPI(M) MLA R Rajesh for his Facebook post in which he alleged certain ideological inclinations of judges on the bench hearing cases related to universities in the state.
The bench headed by justice DK Singh slammed the CPI(M) leader for “lowering the prestige” of the high court and “disparaging the reputation” of the judge. “The person who has written the Facebook post will face the consequences. He isa litigant before this court. Judgment has been reserved on his writ petition. And he has guts to write a Facebook post against me. He can’t get away with this. Iam framing suo motu charges for criminal contempt,” justice Singh was quoted saying.
