Two unitaries 'stronger, simpler and safer' insists county council

HERTFORDSHIRE County Council has backed two new unitary councils as its preferred model for the future of local government in Hertfordshire.

At a special cabinet meeting last Thursday, the decision considered detailed evidence on a range of factors including local democracy and identity, the future delivery of local services, and financial stability.
Cabinet also considered the views of councillors at the extraordinary meeting of full council on November 19 and feedback from extensive engagement with residents and stakeholders.
