Doctor's recognition for her work in services for public protection
A Hamilton woman has been awarded an MBE in the 2026 New Year Honours List.
Dr Deirdre McCormick, who is chief nurse and head of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde's (NHSGGC) Public Protection Service, was given the honour for her services to public protection.
The Public Protection Service exists to ensure the safety of vulnerable unborn babies, children, young people and adults who are at risk of harm.
She is a qualified nurse, midwife and health visitor with 44 years of NHS service and has dedicated her career to improving patient care and experience and protecting the public.
Deirdre grew up in Omagh in Northern Ireland and now lives in South Lanarkshire. She is married and has three adult children.
