“I do think it's a two-horse race [between] the SNP or Labour. It’s not a secret that the SNP has had a tough time in recent years. I've come in to get the party focused on doing what it does best which is addressing the priorities of the people, but I recognise we've got work to do to win public trust and confidence and that's what our campaign is trying to do.”

He noted that voters are raising “both the local and national interspersed in people's conversations - you could go to one door and get concerns about school transport and the next concerns about the health service or economic opportunity and jobs”, and said: “Katy would be that connected, active and engaged local representative.”
