Wise Approach climbs ranks to win Middle Park Stakes

Wise Approach matched his half-brother Perfect Power with GI Middle Park success as he overcame an early stumble to post a scintillating win in the Newmarket sprint for two-year-olds on Saturday.

The Charlie Appleby-trained colt's race was nearly over in the first few strides as he was hampered by First Approach and The Publican's Son, with William Buick forced to take evasive action after clipping heels.

Steadied in last of the nine runners, Wise Approach was switched out towards the centre of the course with just under two furlongs to race and travelled powerfully to go fourth entering the final furlong.

Wise Approach displayed an impressive turn of foot on the rising ground, collaring Five Ways, Coppull and Brussels half a furlong out. The son of Mehmas saw out the six furlongs strongly, drifting left in the process, to cross the line three-quarters of a length in front.
