Ayub and Mirza star as Pakistan thrash S.Africa by 9 wickets to level T20 series

A clinical and comprehensive performance from Pakistan saw them steamroll South Africa by nine wickets in the second T20 International at the Gaddafi Stadium on Friday, leveling the three-match series at one win apiece.

In a near-flawless display, Pakistan's bowlers set up the victory by skittling the Proteas for a paltry 110, a target their batsmen, led by a scintillating Saim Ayub, polished off with ease and 41 balls to spare.

Fast bowlers Salman Mirza and Faheem Ashraf shared seven wickets.

The writing was on the wall for South Africa from the very first over after captain Salman Ali Agha won the toss and elected to bowl.

Left-arm pacer Mirza, drafted into the side in place of Shaheen Afridi, immediately justified his selection by dismantling Reeza Hendricks with a sharp in-swinger on just his second ball.

South Africa's top order never recovered from that early jolt. Quinton de Kock followed Hendricks back to the pavilion quickly, and the subsequent dismissals of Tony de Zorzi and Matthew Breetzke left the visitors in tatters at 31 for 4 during the powerplay.
