LEARN ABOUT ALL THE RITUALS, CUSTOMS, AND CHANGES TO DAILY ROUTINES DURING THE MONTH OF FASTING IN THIS EXPLAINER
The season of blessings, sharing, and giving has arrived with Ramadan.
Daily routines at work, at home, and at the mosque will shift over the course of the month of fasting.
The rhythm will begin with an especially early start, as families rise before dawn for a predawn meal (Suhoor) to give strength for the day's fast.
Some people will head to work later than usual in the morning, or return home earlier, in keeping with shorter office timings for Ramadan.
Schools, too, will have a shorter day, capped at five hours. The evenings will see a quiet moment before the end of the fast at sunset, as family and friends gather for their first meal after over 12 hours of daylight.
Longer prayers (Taraweeh) are held at mosques for worshippers seeking to reap the rewards of the sacred nights during Ramadan.
