Debutant filmmaker Anuparna Roy has scripted history by winning the Orizzonti Award for Best Director at the Venice Film Festival for her feature film, Songs of Forgotten Trees.

The movie was presented by Anurag Kashyap.
Songs of Forgotten Trees, the only Indian film selected in the Orizzonti section of the Venice Film Festival this year and winner, saw the teary-eyed Anuparna accepting the award on Saturday.
