A new global study has found that nearly half of all people living with diabetes don't know they have the disease, raising concerns about delayed treatment and the growing health burden worldwide.

The research, published in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington School of Medicine, analysed diabetes diagnosis and care in 204 countries and territories between 2000 and 2023.
