LIFESAVERS STEP UP TO FUNDRAISING CHALLENGE
TWO lifeboat volunteers in Cleethorpes are set to take on the ABP Humber Coastal 10k - wearing their full inshore rescue kit.
Dave Payne and Joe Paterson are both proud serving crew members at RNLI Cleethorpes Lifeboat Station, which opened its new £4m building on Central Promenade earlier this month.
Having been involved in countless rescues, they both know firsthand the importance of the RNLI and the huge difference it makes in saving lives at sea.
Running the ABP Humber Coastal 10km is tough enough. Yet the pair, who are both keen runners, say that taking on the run in their full kit is their way of going the extra mile to raise vital funds, and they're even aiming to complete the run in a staggering one-hour time frame.
Together, they have launched a GoFundMe fundraising page at www.gofundme.com/f/coastal-10km-rnli-cleethorpes-fundraiser-ran-in-ilbs with aims to raise at least £600 to support the RNLI, helping to fund the equipment, training, and resources that keep its crews ready to respond whenever the call comes in.
