New drama will tell story of former aide to Fergie who went on to commit murder

A NEW four-part drama coming to ITV will revisit a shocking murder case involving a woman from Cleethorpes.

The Lady, which airs from Sunday, February 22, will tell the story of Jane Andrews who was hired as the personal dresser to Sarah Ferguson, formerly Duchess of York, and thrust into a very different world from the humble Grimsby one she left behind.

Andrews, however, went on to murder her wealthy businessman boyfriend, Thomas Cressman.

On Saturday, February 14, the TV channel 5 aired a documentary, Crime of Passion? The Trial of Jane Andrews, on how the tale of murder, sex and royalty played out in the courtroom.

Friends and family who attended the trial contributed to the documentary. Andrews, who claimed self-defence, falsely cited abuse from Mr Cressman; she was found guilty of murdering him in 2000 and jailed for life.

Now ITV has taken up the story for dramatisation, The Lady.
