Mother arrested after alleged assault of child

The Southern Cape Police's spokesperson, Warrant Officer Chris Spies, confirmed that the George detectives are investigating a common assault case in which a 10-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted by his mother on Sunday 25 January.

The boy reported the incident to his father, who alerted the police. His 30-year-old mother was arrested and is due to appear in court. The identities of the suspect and her family members have not been disclosed to protect the minor.
