IN A CLEAR turnaround, the September quarter witnessed fresh FPI inflows into Indian government bonds through the fullyaccessible route (FAR).
During July-September period, foreign investors purchased government securities worth %20,916 crore, compared with outflows of 24,180 crore witnessed in the previous quarter, according to data from Clearing Corporation of India (CCIL).
The FPI investment in government securities under FAR returned above %3 lakh-crore mark in September on account of the widened spread between Indian and US treasury bonds. The rating upgrade by S&P Global to ‘BBB’ from ‘BBB-’ in August also helped boost the sentiment.
