Pvt seed firms to be under traceability system

THE GOVERNMENT IS aiming to bring private seed companies under the Seed Authentication, Traceability and Holistic Inventory (SATHI) portal to ensure traceability across the entire seed production and distribution system.

Sources said that, currently, only public-sector seed corporations at the state and central levels are listed on the SATHI portal for foundation and certified seeds. Private seed companies, which primarily sell seeds under the “truthfully labelled” category, currently operate without any traceability system.
