GST reforms trim price of cement bag by ₹25-30

CEMENT PRICES ACROSS the country eased in September after producers fully passed on the benefits of GST rationalisation to customers.

The all-India average selling price declined by ₹25-30 month-on-month to about ₹325 per bag, analysts said.

They added that while the monsoon quarter comes with pricing softness due to muted demand, this quarter, the prices have been driven down further by changes in MRP brought on by GST rate rationalisation.

“While month-on-month, there may be a decline in demand, it is much better than last year. The drop in MRP because of GST is a benefit pass-on, and should not impact cement company margins overall,’ an analyst with Mumbai-based brokerage said.
