TCS completes bulk of layoffs

THE BULK OF the previously announced layoffs at IT major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) hasbeen operationalised by September end, and only a few isolated cases remain under evaluation, sources in the knowsaid.
The Tata Group company had inJulyannounced that will trim about 2% of its workforce, or over 12,000 employees, as part of a restructuring exercise to align skills with shifting client demand and rising automation.
Severance payouts have been tiered by service length, ranging from six months to two years of salary.All affected employees receive three months’ notice pay, after which the severance ranges from six months to as much as two years of salary.
