SHARES OF CONSUMER-TECH major Lenskart debuted at a discount of 1.7%-3% on Monday, took an 11.5% plunge in early trade, and sharply recouped to close with gains.

Nearly %5,593 crore worth of shares were traded, bulk of them on the NSE (%5,221.7 crore).

Shares closed marginally up, at 404.55 on the NSE and at $403.30 at BSE. At peak, they gained nearly 3% — an intra-day swing of 14.5%. At the end of the trading session, the company’s market capitalisation stood at 70,184.17 crore on the NSE.

The company set the price band at ~382-402 per share for the public issue.

“We didn’t build Lenskart to reach a valuation. We built it to reach people — from the heart of Delhi to the smallest town in the Northeast,’ Peyush Bansal, co-founder and CEO, said on Sunday in a note to shareholders.
