|April 09, 2026
The City has announced that the Battle of Muizenberg site has been officially declared a Provincial Heritage Site (PHS) by Heritage Western Cape (HWC).
The proclamation was published in the provincial gazette on Friday, March, 27.
The City’s Environmental Management department submitted the nomination under Section 27 of the National Heritage Resources Act in 2024, which was approved by the HWC Council in June 2025.
Mayoral committee member for spatial planning and environment, Eddie Andrews, said the proclamation marked an important milestone in protecting the city’s heritage and cultural landscapes.
