New proposal feels more suited to site than previous plan

It is no surprise that a new plan has come forward to develop what was the city's police station and magistrates' court.

The site, which has been empty for five years, is prime for housing, and its position opposite the University of Exeter's St Luke's campus lends itself to student accommodation.

This new plan has much to like, too. Gone are the two giant blocks of housing, replaced with several smaller buildings.

That inevitably means fewer people could live on the site, but any developer will still get plenty of bang for their buck as they have managed to accommodate more than 800 units into the plan 414 co-living units and 399 for students.
