Nottingham killer will likely be 'locked up for life', says minister

NOTTINGHAM triple killer Valdo Calocane will likely be “locked up for the rest of his life”, a minister said today as the Attorney General considers whether to review his sentence for manslaughter.

The 32-year-old, who has paranoid schizophrenia, was handed a hospital order after his pleas to manslaughter by diminished responsibility were accepted earlier this week.

A spokesman for Attorney General Victoria Prentis confirmed that her office had received a referral arguing the sentence yesterday was unduly lenient. The Cabinet minister has 28 days to review the request and decide whether to refer the case to the Court of Appeal to rule on whether it was appropriate. “I find this case absolutely horrendous,” Treasury minister Gareth Davies told Sky News.
