Three of the suspects were marched in bent double while a fourth was brought from hospital in a wheelchair to face terrorism charges. Russian media reported that the men were tortured during interrogation by the security services and they appeared in court with bruises and swollen faces.
There were also reports that one of the suspects had an ear cut off during interrogation, although this has not been verified, while some outlets reported that a suspect was given electric shocks to his genitals.
