Just a few weeks from now, Stuart Findlay can legally discuss a pre-contract agreement with other clubs.

There won't be much talking with anyone if Hearts motion him towards the Tynecastle table. The defender's Oxford United deal expires at the end of this season, concurrent with his loan in Edinburgh. Findlay hopes to make that arrangement permanent to continue a productive time in maroon.

He is a trusted lieutenant of Hearts head coach Derek McInnes from their time together at Kilmarnock and is now eager to cement himself in Gorgie.

Management are certain to offer Findlay a contract to make him a bona fide Hearts player, an opportunity he would jump at. "I think it would be an absolute no-brainer. I've loved every minute I've been here so far. It helps when the team are winning on the park," said the 30-year-old, who has started all 16 of Hearts' Premiership matches this season and formed a solid defensive partnership with Craig Halkett.
