Hibs hero Paul Hanlon has been backed by his club's board ahead of making a management debut today.

- by Ben Banks

Raith Rovers made the move to sack former Aberdeen boss Barry Robson this week, with performances waning and the club sitting sixth in the Scottish Championship.

The reins have now been handed to ex-Hibees central defender Hanlon on an interim player-manager basis, ahead of the clash with Airdrie (kickoff 3pm at Stark's Park).

The Hibs icon, who won the Scottish Cup in 2016 and made over 500 appearances overall in Leith, moved to Kirkcaldy alongside another Easter Road legend, Lewis Stevenson, upon their terms in the Capital coming to an end.

In a statement, the Raith board have moved to urge fans to get behind Hanlon as he looks for a vital win.
