A staggering 501 cars passed through the inaugural Dumfries Fire Station winter wonderland and a free-entry Santa's grotto drive-thru in three hours on Sunday.

LOCAL FIRE STATIONS' WINTER WONDERLAND IS BIG SUCCESS

And the festive firefighters exceeded their expected 1,000 young visitors handing out 1,065 free selection boxes to children driven in by parents or guardians to enjoy the array of sparkling lights and Christmas decorations, Santa and his helpers in their costumes.

Now the fun event a first for the stationlooks set to become an annual event.

And the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service team behind it are grateful for the support they received to make it happen with donations of selection boxes and the cash to buy them coming from organisations and businesses.
