School places decided for secondary students

JUST 5% OF PARENTS UNSUCCESSFUL IN HOPES OF FIRST PREFERENCE CHOICE

PARENTS across Derbyshire found out about their child’s secondary school place for September yesterday.

The county council has made offers of places to just under 9,000 Derbyshire children on what is called National Offer Day

Of those parents who applied by the closing date 94.8% per cent have been offered their first preference school.

Overall 98.7% who applied by the closing date were offered a place at one of their three preferred schools.

Cabinet member for SEND and education Councillor Simon Mabbott said: “I'd like to thank everyone who applied to us on time for their child's secondary school place.
