SUPER-SUB Lars Jorgen-Salvesen leapt off the bench on Tuesday to give Derby County a fourth successive win in the Championship as they secured a 2-1 victory over Hull City.

- By LEIGH CURTIS

Carlton Morris had given Rams the lead in the first half, only for Joel Ndala to equalise after the break. But with seven minutes remaining Salvesen had the final say with his first touch as he bagged his second goal for the club since his move from Viking FK back in January.

Derby went into the game full of confidence after their 3-1 win at Sheffield United, but had a let-off when Hull’s Matt Crooks benefited from a careless pass in midfield, but his powerful drive from distance cannoned off the bar and out for a goal kick.

That was the only shot at goal in the opening 15 minutes, but Derby soon made their presence felt when Ben Brereton Diaz slipped a pass into Patrick Agyemang.

The striker opened his body up, but a brilliant recovery challenge from a Hull defender ended with the ball spinning out for a corner. From that set-piece Brereton Diaz saw a shot hit an arm in the area which led to screams fora penalty as the ball fizzed out for yet another corner.

While Derby were still digesting they had not been given a spot-kick, they were on their feet moments later when Joe Ward's delivery to the near post was met by Carlton Morris at the near post for his ninth goal of the season.

Derby were in control for the remainder of the half as Callum Elder's shot after the interval forced a save from Ivor Pandur.

At the other end, Zetterstrom did superbly to save from Crooks at his near post before Hull were level in fortuitous circumstances. Joe Geldhardt produced a sweet ball across the face of goal but Ward and Zetterstrom collided and ended up on the floor, which allowed Joel Ndala to bundle the ball in from close range.
