Moors the merrier in the end as Derby given good workout

COREY Blackett-Taylor continued his red-hot form in preseason as Derby County secured a 4-2 win against National League side Solihull Moors on Tuesday night.
In an entertaining clash at Damson Park, Derby had to come from behind on two occasions to secure the victory ahead of their last preseason workout at home to Greek side Atromitos on Saturday.
With new striker Patrick Agyemang in the stands, Derby had fallen behind to an outstanding goal that deserved to be seen on a grander stage than a summer friendly.
A 60-yard crossfield ball from Oscar Rutherford had picked out Dan Creaney, who had only just come on for the injured Conor Wilkinson.
Instead of taking a touch to bring the ball under control, the striker unleashed a wonderful first-time volley from the edge of the box that flew past Jacob Widell Zetterstrom.
Derby were level when Blackett-Taylor, who has been in excellent form in preseason, scampered down the left and crossed for Ebou Adams to head past Laurie Walker.
But the hosts were back in front when Cameron Green took aim from outside the box and the speed of the shot was enough to take it past Zetterstrom.
Blackett-Taylor should have levelled when he burst into the box but Derby did eventually restore parity when Danny Batth thumped in Kenzo Goudmijn’s corner.
After halftime, Derby then took the lead when Blackett-Taylor charged down the left and into the area.
Tyler French was teased into a clumsy challenge which brought the winger down and he stepped up to take the penalty himself, as he slid his effort beyond Walker.
Jake Rooney nearly made it four when he met a Goudmijn free kick but planted his effort just wide.
Derby did make it four when Charles Agbawodikeizu raced through and dinked a superb finish over Walker.
Here are a few of the talking points from the night.
A comfortable win in the end
