APPLICANT WANTED TO OPEN UNTIL 1AM, BUT PREMISES GIVEN AN 11PM TIME LIMIT

- By NIGEL SLATER

DERBY City Council has limited the hours a new Derby pub can stay open for due to concerns it could lead to noise problems.

Bosses of “The Yard” have been granted a venue licence to open in part of the old Finewood Studios furniture store in Mickleover.

However, staff will have to call last orders for drinkers earlier than requested.

Applicant Shepherd Events Ltd is the management company behind the new pub. It also runs the Spread Eagle in Etwall.

The business wanted The Yard to open from 10am to midnight Monday to Thursday, 10am to 1am Friday and Saturday and 10am to 11pm on Sundays. There was also a request for live and recorded music during those times.

The plans for the Station Road building were met with several objections from nearby residents, who expressed their concerns to the council about potential disturbance.

However, no objections were received from responsible authorities such as the police or the council’s environmental health department.
