Beck closing in on making a comeback

OWEN Beck is inching closer to a full Derby County return with the fullback scheduled to play in a game next week.

The Liverpool defender is yet to feature this season after joining the club on loan, owing to a calf problem he sustained in the warm-up for the preseason game against Burton Albion.

But Beck is now back on the grass and has trained over the last week, although the lack of minutes means he is not yet match-fit.

Eustace does not expect Beck to be back until after the international break but says the left-back cannot wait to be involved again.

“Owen’s doing really well,” said Eus-tace.

“He's been training with us this week and I think he's down for a game at some point next week as well.

“I think after the international break is when we'll get Owen back in the squad and firing.

“He's had a bad time of it but he'll be ready.

“Mentally, he’s very strong and he can’t wait to get back in with the group and the group can’t wait to have him on the pitch”

Beck is not set to be risked for today’s game against Wrexham and joins Rhian Brewster and Curtis Nelson on the sidelines.
