Arboretum to close memorial as stage is set for VJ Day service

THE National Memorial Arboretum will close its Armed Forces Memorial for its VJ Day commemorations.

From 9am on August 8 to 5pm on August 17, the memorial and its immediate surroundings at Alrewas will be closed to allow for the safe preparation and dismantling of infrastructure for the VJ Day service.
On Friday, August 15, the Royal British Legion will hold a national commemorative event at the Alrewas site to mark the 80th anniversary of VJ Day and the end of the Second World War.
Throughout the closure, visitors will be able to lay wreaths and tributes in a temporary location near the Armed Forces Memorial.
