Maharashtra Ranks First in the Country for Effective Implementation of PESA Act

Maharashtra has secured first place in the country for the effective implementation of the Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act (PESA), according to the PESA Indicator Ranking for 2024-25 released on January 25, 2026, on the eve of the 77th Republic Day.

The rankings were announced at a felicitation ceremony for Panchayat representatives held in New Delhi, where Union Minister of State for Panchayati Raj Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel released the report. Vivek Bhardwaj, Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, along with other senior officials, was also present.
